Eating Disorders

Overcoming eating disorders (ED) such as anorexia, bulimia, or other forms requires both courage and professional support. Therapy helps you recognize the signs of ED and explore the behaviors that can guide you toward recovery. Together, we will identify what ED entails and develop strategies to help you manage your thoughts, control impulsivity, and address binge eating episodes. Gradually, you will rebuild a healthier relationship with food.

Guidelines for managing challenges

You will receive practical and detailed guidelines on how to handle challenges associated with eating disorders (ED), particularly in relation to your relationships and communication with others. You will learn how to improve your internal experiences and transform negative self-talk. This will provide you with a clearer understanding of ED and equip you with tools to manage its symptoms effectively.

New behavior patterns

We will work together on situations from your life that are challenging in connection with your eating disorder. You will learn to identify harmful behavior patterns and replace them with healthier approaches.

Follow-up therapies

In follow-up therapy sessions, we will continue to address situations from your life that are affected by your eating disorder. Together, we will focus on deepening your understanding of the underlying issues and reinforcing healthier behavior patterns. These sessions will help you maintain progress, build resilience, and develop a sustainable approach to managing challenges as they arise.

Confidence

After completing therapy, you will have the reassurance that you are not alone in facing the challenges associated with eating disorders. You will learn how to effectively manage your ED and know that expert support is available whenever you need it.

How do the 6 therapy sessions work

1.

In the initial session, we will get to know each other and collaboratively define the goals of therapy. The focus will be on understanding the challenges associated with eating disorders (ED) and setting specific steps to help you achieve your goals.

2.

The second session will focus on communication—both with others and with yourself. We will explore what ED is and how it impacts your inner experiences and your relationship with food. By the end of this session, you will be better equipped to talk about your challenges and ask for support when needed.

3.

In the third session, we will focus on identifying the triggers that lead to issues with food intake. You will learn to recognize impulsive reactions related to eating and transform them into healthier behavior patterns. This will help you build greater control and confidence in your daily life.

4.

The fourth session will center on a topic you bring to the table. We will reinforce the skills gained in previous sessions and discuss how your inner dialogue and relationship with food are evolving.

5.

This session will be customized to your individual needs, addressing any remaining concerns or areas requiring additional focus.

6.

During the final session, we will review the skills you’ve developed and set goals for future changes. By this stage, you will have all the tools you need to manage your eating disorder effectively. This is also an opportunity to discuss with your therapist whether to conclude therapy or continue if further support is desired.
